About Me: Julian

 Hello everyone, my name is Julian. I am 19 years old and currently duel-enrolled with both Oregon State University as well as Linn Benton Community College. I am in my Junior year and studying Business Finance. I enrolled in this principles of marketing class because I am really interested in business and I understand that marketing is an important part of that field. I have considered getting a minor in marketing as well so I figured I should take this class and decide if that is for sure something I want to do or not. I'm most interested in learning how to put together a short pitch and sell it effectively. I know that is something that will be a necessary skill in business and I'm hoping to have the opportunity to work on that in this class. Something that I am really passionate about is investing. I got into it when I was quite young and starting buying into precious metals, bonds, and stocks when I was in middle school. Since then I've spent a lot of time researching and trying to learn about different aspects of investing. That is the reason I want to get a degree in finance. This last year during the pandemic has given me a lot more time to focus on my studies as well as learn more about different investing strategies that interest me.

I chose to write about the current conflict and litigation involving Apple and Epic Game which are discussed in the article, “ Apple says Epic's Fortnite lawsuit is a marketing stunt to revive 'flagging interest' in the game” . This is a contentious situation where Epic Games is seeking to have Apple loosen regulation on their app store, while apple claims this is a marketing tactic intended to help revive the game Fortnite which has been slowly losing popularity. I personally find this very interesting because Apple is a company that I follow very closely and I have some experience with the products of Epic Games as well. The basic setup for this situation is that Epic Games places their products/games for sale on the IOS app store which is a platform created and owned by Apple.
